As a baby, Joy was adopted from China by the Cohens, a rich Jewish family in Los Angeles. She was raised with wealth and privilege. While she may look Asian on the outside, she is really Jewish on the inside. Even though Joy has everything going for her--looks, intelligence, and personality--she is still very insecure about herself, partly because she feels rejected by her biological parents. In her attempt to feel more complete, she seeks out her bio- family, whom she thinks is still in China. Through a biological search company, she learns that they are already in Los Angeles, and own a local Chinese restaurant, The Joy Luck Pig. Thrilled to make this discovery, Joy naively believes that bringing her two families together will be her happy ending. When the families finally meet, they are territorial over Joy. Tension and conflict between the two families ensue immediately. Joy's happy ending may not be so happy, after all. But the Credit-Crunch suddenly shut the brakes on everything, normal Americans have seen their wages and hours cut and their jobs disappear. But Nevada is unique, it is home to the fastest and biggest growing industry in America. What is that industry? It is the Adult Entertainment Industry, and thanks to the ecomonic climate average US citizens are having to put away their BA degrees and instead turning to the oldest profession in the world to make money. SEX! Yes, sex pays! And if a woman can sell her virginity on the internet, then why can't a young man sell is ANAL VIRGINITY as well? Yes, his ANAL VIRGINITY! UP THE DIRT ROAD follows the story of how a young man (with the help of his fiance and parents) came to the decision to sell his anal-virginity for money. UP THE DIRT ROAD asks the question, 'In an era of severe economic crisis, how far would you go to make money?' Matted Producer/Writer: Jonathan Zimmerman Rose Lee is a 16 year old high school student who is just trying to figure things out. She wants to be a wrestler on the boys wrestling team, but more importantly, she also wants to be a boy. She has been diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder and is in the process of beginning her transition. On her journey to figuring out who she is, there are many obstacles along the way--her conservative father, her insensitive friends and her callous teammates.
